Arjan Singh, son of Lal Singh, Jat, of V. and P. S. Jagraon, District
Ludhiana. He is not a returned emigrant. He was introduced to Banta
Singh of Sanghwal (hanged) at Dhudeke. In March 1915 he delivered a
seditious lecture at a fair at Killi village, P. S. Moga, District Ferozepore
and was present at meetings near Dudher and at Kapurthala in June when
it was decided to attack the State Magazine. He was seduced by Bhagat
Singh of Ballowal (formerly of the Ghadr Party) who lectured at Kairon
village. He supplied money for the attack on Doraha bridge and was
aware of the bombs that were buried. He was sent up for trial in the
Lahore Supplementary Case, was convicted and sentenced to
transportation for life. On the 9th March 1918, he escaped from the
Hazari Bagh Central Jail and was awarded a further sentence of 2 years'
rigorous imprisonment under Section 221 Indian Penal Code. He was,
however, conditionally released in 1927. Is present at his village since his
release. Attended the District Nau Jawan Bharat Sabha Conference on
29th November 1931. He associates with Akalis and Chanan Singh of
Chuhar Chak, Mit Singh of Pandori (M-35) and Narain Singh of Man. Is
an active member of the Akali Panth and renders support to the Akali
Jathas. Is a well-to-do man entertaining political views. Owns landed
property.
